Designing NBA Player and Spouse Launch Line with Private Handbag Collection
Doug Christie and his wife, Jackie, have already prominently distinguished themselves among the NBA as the couple who steadfastly showcases their love at games through his constant hand signals of affection to Jackie. And Jackie has always been a strong supporters of Doug’s basketball career, religiously attending his games to cheer him on. Now, the Christies have merged their love for each other and their creativity in an off-court business–a fashion house. Doug and Jackie Christie are both designers and have just launched the first line of their collections–Jackie’s Private Handbag Collection.
“I’m a handbag type of girl. I have a large collection of bags–but something was missing,” begins Jackie from her offices. “I wanted something different, romantic and fun. I wanted a piece of art.” So Christie put her pen to paper and began creating her own line last year. Today, she boasts more than 200 original bags, all handsewn with only the best materials–Egyptian laces, Italian silks, sexy denims and exquisite leathers.” Plans are underway to launch women’s apparel, including couture and ready-to-wear.
Right beside his wife, Doug plays an active part in the process of the company’s designs. He’s not only Jackie’s muse for everything she creates but is also contributor to the collections. The NBA guard has his own line of sportswear and plans to unveil a men’s apparel line in the future.
The Christie’s handbags possess a hip, stylish, and romantic feel. Every creation is one-of-a-kind and timeless. “I want every woman carrying our handbags or wearing our clothes to feel beautiful and special,” says Mrs. Christie, “to feel like a princess in her own modern-day fairytale.”
