First Need Fulfilled - April, 2006
In the height of the NBA season and as the WBNA gears up to begin their season, a Seattle girl's basketball team was the recipient of much deserved gift from Doug and Jackie Christie.
In April, the Infinite Love Foundation developed a new needs based charity program to help make a difference in the lives of people who may otherwise be forgotten or who do not have access to the right sources for help. With so much charity needs, the Christie's felt that the development of this program would be a great place to start. Funded in part by the Christie's and also in part by a percentage of each sale from the website, each month the Foundation will fulfill a need of an organization, program or individual strictly based on the circumstances surrounding the particular need.
The first need was fulfilled recently when the Christie's presented brand new jerseys, shorts and Adidas basketball shoes to the Seattle Rotary Boys and Girls Club “Lady Style” AAU basketball team. Coach Glen Smith, who was one of Doug's high school basketball coaches, informed the Christies of the needs of the team. Having played on the boys AAU team as a youth, Doug was reminded of the needs.
The “Lady Style” team is comprised of young ladies in the central division of the Seattle Rotary Boys and Girls Club. Many of the players have played together since the 5th grade, with new players added every year. Lady Style is ranked in the top 5 in the Greater Pacific Northwest Region. With a demand for maximum effort from every player it can not be denied that this group of 7th and 8th grade girls is very deserving of the first need fulfillment grant from the Infinite Love Foundation. |
