Hair – With all the heat and chlorine your hair can suffer a lot of damage during the summer. I suggest a weekly deep conditioning to help keep your hair free of split ends, breakage and dryness. To help keep your style, remember to have your hair trimmed every 4 weeks. For those of you who sport a short cropped hair style, which I personally love, try a light spray of oil for shine and pop. A light oil will also bring out your hairs natural texture too. Finally, nothing screams shine and luster more than hair supported by drinking a lot of H2O (water).
Skin - Moisturize for softness! Just like your hair, the same goes for your skin during the summer. The sun, the chlorine and the dry conditions make for dry skin and by far, the most economical moisturizer on the market is 100% pure Vaseline. Compared to lotions and skin creams which can be heavy, Vaseline is very light and really traps the moisture in your skin. The other important lotion for your skin is sunblock, sunblock, sunblock! You must protect your skin from premature aging and sun spots, as well as cancer and the only way to do that is to use sunblock on a regular basis when outdoors. Remember, the higher the SPF, the longer you are protected. Exercise can go a long way in maintaining your skins health as well. Staying in shape isn't always the easiest thing to do, however if you set small goals of 25 sit-ups, push-ups and squats with a 10 minute walk on the treadmill about 4 times a week, you'll be well on your way to achieving over all good health. Finally, it's back to water! Water plays an important roll by hydrating your skin and giving you a natural glow.
Nails - I highly recommend taking the time once a month to take a trip to a spa or beauty salon for some nail pampering. A professional nail attendant can do wonders for feet & hands not to mention help you relax while they massage you so nicely. They know the proper care for cuticles and will take care not to damage them. In between visits, you can easily keep up your nails at home by taking a bit of time for a self manicure or pedicure. Come on, treat yourself, you deserve it!
Scent – Finally, to top off all of the beauty you've created by taking care of yourself, is to add a nice light scent . A fragrance should be soft and sweet not sharp or strong. Try different scents on, don't just spray them in the air, scents will act differently with your bodies chemistry and will smell differently when on. Make sure and ask your significant other or a friend how it smells on and take their advice.
